The Economic Impact of a Mother

Mothers are the backbone of the U.S. economy.

My son will be 15 months old in four days and he’s becoming a handful. Getting into things, climbing onto things, eating dirt, throwing food, throwing fits, and deciding randomly when he would prefer to be awake than asleep.

It’s a lot of work. 

I don’t know how my wife is able to take care of him, me, and the house, while still running a business. She deserves an applause. 👏🏼 

We by no means have it all together but she does a great job! I can be a father, provide for my family, and still pursue my passion because of the workload she covers. 

Saves us a lot of money as well! Cooking meals, being the daycare, doing the laundry, taking our son to the doctor, grocery shopping, the list goes on and on. She should easily be making 60k per year if not more because that’s how much she saves us each year. 

So, how impactful are mothers? I’m sharing a video with you that will explain exactly what I’m talking about.  

To all the mothers out there, thank you for all that you do! You are appreciated.

Moms throughout the world give up their lives to raise their children.

My plan was to share a different blog post but switched it up in light of mothers day yesterday.

I’m also grateful for all that my mother did to raise me. I believe I was perfectly parented by her. She instilled in me the desire to work hard. She helped me discover my passion and gave me a lot of self-awareness. She helped me learn to respect others and to give rather than take. She has been an example to me of love and perseverance.

The Hardest Job In The World

Imagine a job that isn’t just a “job,” but it may be the most important job ever. The title of this job is Director of Operations, but it entails a lot more than that. The responsibilities are quite extensive. The first category requires mobility. You must be able to work standing up most or all of the time. Constantly on your feet, constantly bending over, constantly exerting yourself. A high level of stamina. 135 hours to unlimited hours a week. It’s basically 24 hours a day 7 days a week. There are no breaks available. You can have lunch but only when the associate is done eating their lunch. 

This position requires excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills. Someone that might have a degree in medicine, finance and in the culinary arts. You must be able to wear multiple hats. The associate needs constant attention. Sometimes you may have to stay up with the associate throughout the night. Being able to work in a hectic environment. If you had a life, you may just give that up. No vacations. In fact, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and holiday’s the workload goes up. The connects you will make and what will come from helping the associate is immeasurable. 

The position is going to pay absolutely nothing. 

Would you take this position? I doubt it.

What if I told you that someone holds this position right now? Billions of people actually. 

Moms. 

Moms throughout the world give up their lives to raise their children.

I’ve seen first hand how difficult of a job it is. Our son is now 12 weeks old. What my wife does to raise our little prince is incredible. 

I had planned to share a different blog post this morning but switched up my plans in light of mothers day yesterday. It can be hard to get things done with a little one. I hold him in the morning when I write these blog posts and it takes me a little longer to write and get what I want done. But it’s totally worth it. As I write this, he’s milk drunk in my arms, in and out of sleep and fussing. He’ll randomly stretch and then randomly smile. These are some of my favorite moments of the day. 

I wouldn’t be able to pursue my passion for personal finance and spend time writing these articles if it wasn’t for my amazing wife. She gives up everything to make sure our son has what he needs at all times. I was surprised how demanding and time consuming it is to have a baby. It’s a constant effort but one she is always willing to do. 

I’m grateful for all that my mother did to raise me. I believe I was perfectly parented by her. She instilled in me the desire to work hard. She helped me discover my passion and gave me a lot of self-awareness. She helped me to respect others and to give rather than take. She has been an example to me of love and perseverance. It’s unfair everything she’s had to go through and continues to go through. But she does it with a happy disposition and always thinks about other people. Most people couldn’t do what she has done.
